Synergy Commercial Advisors Support Band Together and Its 2010 Charity Recipient StepUp Ministry
MORRISVILLE, N.C. – (May 22, 2010) – Synergy Commercial Advisors is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Band Together’s (www.bandtogethernc.org) 2010 musical event featuring Michael Franti and Spearhead and benefiting StepUP Ministry (www.step-up.us). Synergy Commercial Advisors contributed $3,125 as an “Album of the Year” sponsor. Synergy’s Managing Director, Rich Harris, has been a Board Member of Band Together since 2008 and has co-chaired fundraising efforts the last four years. Synergy’s personnel have also assisted with pre-event ticket sales, securing silent auction items, and volunteering the day of the event to help setup.
“Band Together consists of a group of very motivated Triangle leaders who are all 100% volunteers. They make a significant financial impact for a different local charity each year through corporate fundraising and a high profile concert event,” remarks Rich Harris. “But the concerts are about more than raising money; they are also about bringing our diverse community together for a common cause and that ‘united spirit’ is undeniable for those who attend the event. The mantra is ‘raise funds, raise awareness, raise the bar’, and Band Together has done that every year to the benefit of numerous charities via great musical acts. Synergy Commercial Advisors is happy to be a part of those efforts both financially and through volunteerism. Nearly everyone at our firm has played some kind of role to support Band Together’s mission.”
This year’s Band Together concert featured Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Old Ceremony, Anoop Desai, One EskimO, and Holy Ghost Tent Revival, and preliminary estimates suggests attendance of more than 2,700 people.
Band Together is a 501c3 non-profit organization composed of business and community leaders from across the Triangle. Its mission is to raise funds and awareness for select charities through events that showcase and support musical talent. Established in 2001, the Group has raised over $1,000,000 for charities, including: SAFEchild, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs, Special Olympics North Carolina, Operation Smile, Music Maker Relief Foundation, Stop Hunger Now (for Tsunami Relief), and the Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina for local and Gulf Coast Katrina Relief.
This year’s charity recipient, StepUP Ministry, is an interfaith nonprofit organization that teaches low-income and homeless people to find jobs and learn life skills to lead self-sufficient lives (stable job, stable home, stable family). Founded in 1988, StepUP annually helps empower, not enable nearly 600 individuals through two life-giving programs: job training/placement and life skills training.
